About Us

ParentPowerEDNY advocates for a K-12 education system where families decide what type of education is best for their children, and where educators are partners who work together to empower children. We see a future for New York with more, and better, school options for families. We work to educate parents on the system as it is, and empower them to work directly with their local decision-makers to make concrete, positive changes for the future. Together, with research support from the Empire Center for Public Policy, and our coalition of dedicated parents, we host trainings across the state to create a more educated and active network of New York parents.

Project Director

My parents grew up poor and in a country plagued by a murder rate that is four times higher than that of the US.

But my parents believed in better and in the opportunity that a good education could afford my brothers and me. Education would become my passport to a better life.

And it is that belief that led me to the US and to Harvard University where I earned a Master’s of Public Policy on a full scholarship. And then to a career focused on transforming education.

I am an experienced manager who has worked in business, government, and the nonprofit sector.

For the past decade, I have helped educators create great school options for low-income children. I have worked on opening 12 charter and district schools and was the Founding Board Chair of Brooklyn RISE Charter; a public K-5 school serving 150 students in Sunset Park.

My biggest passion is to help families choose the best education for their children. I was the co-founder of the New York State Charter Parent Council, a network of more than 350 families advocating for their schools across the state. I am currently elected to District 2 Community Education Council and have served as its Vice-President and was selected as one of the 2023 National Voices in Education Fellows.

I live in Lower Manhattan with my husband, two sons and our dog.
